Religious Instruction at SJNCS

Through the integration of Catholic identity, spiritual formation, and moral/ethical behavior, our Catholic school implements a rigorous curriculum focused on skills essential for students to become socially responsible global citizens.  Our curriculum goals are illuminated by the light of faith and grounded in the spiritual truths of sacred scripture and Catholic tradition.  Religion is taught daily within the classroom in preschool through fourth grade. Middle school students attend separate religion classes taught by Sister Flaviana Mosha or Sister Maureen Ouma. Preschool students attend Mass once per week. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade attend Mass twice per week. Students in second grade are prepared for First Reconciliation and First Communion. Kindergarten and Eighth Grade Buddies

Our eighth grade buddies program fosters a special relationship.  Kindergarten students are paired with eighth grade students and meet regularly throughout the year.  During their time together, students help each other develop their understanding of our faith.  This bond is an essential part of our school’s strong sense of community.
