A Message from Our Principal, Mr. Derbyshire

Dear St. John Neumann Families and Friends,

It’s hard to believe the 2021-2022 school year has already come to a close! The hallways are quiet, lockers are empty, but the work continues. Our school’s patron, St. John Neumann, said it best: “As Christ has His work, we too have ours; as He rejoiced to do His work, we must rejoice in ours also.”

So what is the “work” of this summer? For our administration, faculty, and staff, it might be meetings to plan new curriculum and events, continuing education, and professional development. As our school continues to grow, offices and classrooms will need to be cleaned, organized and rearranged…made fresh for a new school year with new opportunities, new friends, and new memories to be made.

The work of students has much potential for rejoicing. In addition to summer reading and summer math, students have a duty to play! Enjoy the sunshine, make a summer bucket list, and take advantage of every joyful moment.

The work of families is perhaps the most important…working to grow closer together and closer to God. Consider using the longer days as a chance to spend time together outside. Add a family prayer time, visit cherished family and friends, and remember to keep Sunday a day of rest and worship all summer long.

Of course, my sincere hope for everyone is not just restful Sundays, but an entire summer of rest! The summer weeks are a chance to renew ourselves…mentally, physically, and spiritually. When we gather together again in August I hope that we are ready and eager to continue the work Christ has set for us all.

My prayers are with you all,

Bill Derbyshire, Principal
